Today is Earth Day--the day we celebrate this miraculous planet and all the life it sustains. And as usual, there’s good news and bad news.
Ok. We’ll go with the bad news first.
The jury was out for a while, but now word is in, and it’s just about unanimous that it’s getting hot on this little planet. And global warming aside, it’s also getting dirty. The oceans, the air, our food, are all becoming more toxic. Yikes.
The good news is that scientists, engineers, businesses, activists, governments, and most of all YOU (that’s you and me and everyone else who’s reading this!) are all actively driving toward solutions.
Haven’t you noticed lately? Green is all the rage. From the Oscars and the cover of Vanity Fair, to the fact that Home Depot now has Eco Options and Wal-mart offers organic and sustainable products, green is mainstream. And while we’re not one to follow the crowd, we certainly don’t mind the crowd following us. : )
If the bad news is that the average Western world resident produces 30 tons of CO2 a year, the good news is that we have the opportunity to make a huge difference, just by being aware of our carbon footprint and making small changes—as a group.
What does it mean to be Green?
Why not check out what your fellow Zaadzsters have to say about it? There are thousands of great minds—and even greater hearts--in this little community. Just check out all the pod discussions going on about sustainability. You’ll find leaders and activists that are working for change in their lives, their communities and the world. So please please please take advantage of all this juicy wisdom—and make sure you contribute your own brilliance and passion as well.
(Oh. And we’re going to be continuing this planetary-awareness theme over the course of the week, so if you don’t have the time to get involved just this moment, no worries. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to engage.)
So make sure you’ve listed the Earth Day Event that you are attending on Zaadz. Take a minute to blog about your Earth Day experience and what you learned about the Earth today. Search for other Zaadzsters interested in environmentalism—and make a new friend. Ask questions. Organize a group to commit to lowering your energy footprint, or to help clear up an open space. Or just join a pod discussion about Sustainable Life Practices.
And then check out some of these cool resources for loads of tips on Earth-loving lifestyles.

Of course, don’t forget to get out in your local community for Earth Day! There are millions of others who think that we have ourselves a pretty groovy planet here and we ought to care for it, restore it and pass it on in better shape than we received it. So let’s join in being that change.
