Oh my goodness. What a day.
Welcome! (And welcome back.)
I was going to post a little note about the journey and the transition and what's next, but then got a note from dear Jessica, who's been on the team since pretty much day one (ask her about how she pestered Brian into a job... and take it from me that she's now absolutely indispensable :). She'd sent it to all of us on the Team, but it was so perfect, and so full of spirit and love and sweetness, that it seems wrong not to share it here. So here's her note...

Love and hugs and we'll have a more detailed update soon. For now, I just want t say I feel like one of the luckiest human beings on the planet. I get to work with such amazing people, and within such an incredible community, and for such a beautiful cause. As Jessica said, we've only just begun.

Okay, I had to do this.
It’s our first birthday! Gaia (us too!) is about to jump into the big world and live with all the audacity, goodness, and passion we can muster. We’re gonna do it in purple & orange & paint brush strokes. We’re going to rock the world and provide quality tools and inspirational online & offline experience as we do it. Woohoo! Gaia is opening its eyes and facing the future like a wee giggly baby with saaweeet tech features and nifty purple drop-down menus ;)
Happy Birthday Everyone!
You are all amazing and I am so impressed by the dev team and this community... which already rocks. We’ve grown immensely, from the very beginning and over the past few months, and, from where I’m standing, this phase of the journey looks even more exciting than the last.
So, I wish Gaia a day of revelation, beauty, wisdom, brilliance, communing, discovery, and expansion. And, I wish Gaia a life filled with excellence, service, hope, creativity, vitality, thriving success and joy! It’s an honor to be on this ship.

…can we still call it zaadz?…
* GAIA * Heart To Heart…
When I received Siona's letter yesterday I began to feel a bit sad that Zaadz was
coming to completion.
I kept waking up all night and checking to see if the transformation had begun.
Now that it's happened, I am HaPpY to see the new creation of GAIA and want to
thank Team Gaia for all the hard work.
It will take some time to settle in, but the transition has made me deeply
realize how wonderful a network we have here.
We are a real community of humanity, with beating hearts, feelings, hopes & dreams.
Brian, Thank YOU for all you did in creating Zaadz & I'm proud to be part of this
online neighborhood.

Will: I think you can call us whatever you want. I mean, Zaadz is always going to have a significant spot in my heart, and I love knowing that there's a community of 150,000 original community members (is it significant that we reached that number earlier today?) who'll always know the meaning of that odd little word. Zaadz. Gaia. Bob. I think what matters is that we're here. :)
Ladybear: Thank you. And I know just what you mean; I felt that same mixed sense writing it, of both sadness at a goodbye and enthusiasm and excitement and love for what's to come. Thank YOU for your own amazing heart.
And again, oh my GOODNESS what a day. It's been crazy behind the scenes here. We'll have myGaia ready tomorrow and we'll keep poking around for any glitchy links and missed bugs, but until then, thank you thank you thank you all so much for your patience and support and love and for being here.

I see it still says powered by zaadz, but it doesn't say the stuff on the bottom (100% organic, zaadz powered) just an observation. Also I wondered if the story behind the meaning of zaadz will still be on the site or not, hope it still will be. We are all zaadz here in gaia, here to grow and improve yourselfs and the world (gaia)
Noticed that, in spite of promises to be “sensitive” to those of us who might want to post “our” copyrighted stuff here, the GAIAM TOU (referencing number 11) were used, and the part that was early in Zaadz is not there. Very disappointed…. not too sure I can comfortably stay on the basis of THOSE terms. :(….

Question: I placed some links to Zaadz on other website pages…where will those links take the user? Do I have to redo them and link to Gaia?
Gemstar: I apologize for that. The new terms are in the hands of our legal counsel; we were hoping to get them back before the launch today, but we're still waiting for the final approval. I can certainly send you a note when they're back; with any luck it'll be by the end of the week.
Kyle: We've left our original mission statement up (just click the 'mission' link in the footer). Because you're right: our story wouldn't be our story without honoring where we began.
This has always been an awesome site, but now…. think about all this love, all this purple and all this planetary light emmanating from this community out into the universe circling our globe and traveling lightyears into the galaxies as a beacon of hope for spirit and humanity. Great job on deployment of the site. As a web developer turned software analyst I can appreciate the hard work that it took in getting the databases, servers, and other technical (and design) elements in place to launch the new brand. Kudos! The bookmark motif works well for all of the content with the new colors.

the concern of course is that the site will end up all commercialized..it already seems to be heading in that direction. Is the color going to change now and then? Purple feels a little too flowery and fluffy to be only color from now on.Other than that I hold hope it will continue in the original refreshing spirit of Zaadz.

Ookami, first, purple won't be the only color from now on. And, up until a week or two ago I was fairly anti-purple, ask Siona, it was one of the first comments I sent her about the new mock-ups (when they were mock-ups). But, thanks to Jackson, I am starting to appreciate it. But, if you don't like it, Jackson has also created alternative skins that will apply to your pages. One is orange, like Zaadz, and one is artistic with paint brush stroke (it's awesome).
Second, well, yes we are a bit more commercialized, but much of this is out of necessity. Many people said the same thing when we started hosting ads on the site. But, truly we always claimed to be a business, we always said we believed in conscious capitalism and people getting paid to do what they love, including you, including Patagonia. Most of our ads still come from within the community.
Our goal is to be sincere and to support a conscious economy, but not to commodify you. Really. Seriously. The team here? We were all members of Zaadz, and we're members of Gaia now, and the original spirit is in us and in the work we do. Thank YOU for being here and your feedback, keep it coming.

dawn? Mushin? I just posted an update to this blog. We're putting the old terms back. I just want to make clear that those terms were never intended to make it so that Gaia could sell your work. They're due to the nature of the web and the legalities involved in 'publishing' (that is, posting) work online, the oddness of 'modifying' work for formatting or compression or technological purposes, and, of course, the possibility that even deleted content might end up lingering on a backup disk somewhere. That said, it's still no excuse, and I / we should have been far, far more upfront about explaning that.
And everyone else? Thank you so much. I'm tremendously proud of all the work the team did yesterday, and I think the site looks just beautiful. It's good to hear.

comment and question, one comment is that I like that the zaadz site is redirected to gaia community but the main gaia page has the normal gaia stuff like wisdom and etc.
question is where it says seeds sown to date, is that like how many people have logged in / joined since the gaia shift or what, because it is a different number than number of users / number of concious people that it displays before you log on.
The only weird thing I have seen is myself but as to the new look I LIKE IT! but I am really disappointed that you have stuck with that awful commercial/marketing devise Join Now! instead of changing to the far more appropriate for this site, Join Us! I cringe with shame for Zaadz/Gaia each time I see it!
