Gaia's Weekly Update...

Hello Gaia!
It's Siona, with this week's news. We've got, today, some items from both within and outside the community. :)
◊ Then there's Spencer, one of Gaia's resident financial experts, and his wonderfully grounded entry on the news about the global economy. His recommendations, I think, on how to respond are sensible and reassuring and a breath of calm amidst so much of the news. (And not only are his analogies fun, they apply to so, so much more than just the stock market. Stay centered! Such simple words... )
◊ I learned recently about another Gaia project, which I thought was just beautiful. Have you heard of the Gaiafield? The Gaiafield Center for Subtle Activism at CIIS is hosting a WiseUSA project from now through November—they'll be using the power of positive intention to encourage wise leadership in the United States. Even if you don't participate, check out their "Talkcasts": they've got some truly amazing teachers, each one featuring a practice for "subtle activism," and are archiving the conversations here. Yum.
◊ This weeks updates include a few fun enhancements: in addition to a few lingering layout improvements, we've darkened the default text on the site to make your beautiful words easier to read (yay!), updated the side bar with a new up-top button, and ordered the Group discussions to display the most recently active.
◊ We'll soon be getting started on Phase II of our revamp, but not before we finish a few lingering tickets around Phase I—even though the new navigation has been behaving beautifully for the most part, you've come back with some wonderful suggestions about how to make it even better, and we still have some adjustments and corner-straightening to do with certain browsers and edit boxes. So as always, if you encounter any buggies, please make sure to let us know.
◊ Last but not least, for those of you who love and adore and appreciate quotations, or who are proud cultivators of your own quotation libraries, we're looking for a few volunteer "librarians." Until now, only the original creator of a quotation (and, of course, the Team!) had the ability to go back to edit or delete it, but as the library has grown and those niggling little typos and misattributions multiplied, we took the suggestion of a few wise members and created a librarian role--giving members the power to be guardians of our community library of wisdom. If you're one of those sorts with a sharp eye for misspellings and an interest in seeing teachers and authors and thinkers given credit for their wise words, and you'd like to help nurture our database, please let Jessica know.
"A book of quotations... can never be complete." - R. M. Hamilton
And, beautiful people, that's it until next week. I hope you're staying warm and healthy and happy, and that your world remains bright. :)

512 views and nary a comment! perhaps all that silence is speaking these words:
Thank you Siona and Team!
Siona, I'd request that for the Groups revamp, the devs take a look at the list of requests by the members of the Mod Pod; which we'd painstakingly put together in posts here in the Think Tank at your request and which are also available here, in the Mod Pod.
Hard to keep the lid on!!! ;)
Siona, interesting and enlightning as always, A suggestion, to find a wonderful compilation of comments, the quotation library should include “the most brilliant thoughts of all time (in two lines or less) Edited by John M. Shanahan, with maybe a link to an online version, if it exists , for example ” one often hears talk of finding oneself, the self is not something one finds, but one creates” & many more inspirations,
blessings,
Mike
With all the good news YOU ARE, Siona; I can only celebrate your HAPPY OCTOBER DAY OF BIRTH!!! with this poem:
A dream of sun
Kissing that Gaia
You love
A golden dream
Of
One in All
This is what I see
In your eyes
Dear Child
Of the Autumn
Dear Child of Life
A dream all woven
with laughter
Ornated with
Love
Edged
With the jewels
Of Gaia:
Flora
Friendship
Ocean
Fauna
Winds
And Wonder
Fire
And Purpose
Star
Of the Jasmine scents
Moonlight
On the Ocean waters
Siona
Your name like a song
Siona
The Love and The Power
A dream of sun
Kissing that Gaia you love
A golden dream
Of One
In All
This is what I see
in your eyes
Dear Child
Of the Autumn
Dearest Child of Life
For Siona
