Happy 1st of February!
Do any of you say "rabbit rabbit" on the first day of each month? I've been doing that for as long as I can remember (I think it's supposed to bring good luck) but I've no idea where the ritual came from.
Rabbit rabbit.
Ahem.
But now for an update. :) Most of you have probably already been to check out your myGaia page. We launched it with only one theme just a few days after the big transition, but if you check back now, you'll see we have a dandelion-infused yellow-and-white option (look familiar?) and an Artist theme up as well. (Just visit myGaia and click the little boxes above the 'Add Features' on the right side of the page.) We've definitely got more in the works, from a Zen theme to a starry night sky, and if you have any suggestions for others you'd like to see, just leave them in the comments and we'll see what we can do.
For now, though, there's still plenty to play with. The widgets in the main area of the screen can be dragged-and-dropped, and clicking the 'Add Features' button will bring up even more options. (Don't miss Brian's thinkArete feed!)
We'll be adding more in future releases (from a widget that'll allow you to check your personal webmail from the page to a calendar option), so if you have any wishes there, please please weigh in!
Also, I wanted to add a quick word about our Terms of Service. (No worries; they're still just as they were before!) I've been speaking with our lovely legal lady about an eventual update, though, and wanted to make sure anyone who wished could follow the process; to that end, I've started a conversation here.
Finally, we're thisclose to getting our ad-free (subscription supported!) option out—as well as a new matching feature. I wasn't going to mention either of these just yet, but I've been testing the no-ads version for about a week and... well. What can I say? It's lovely, and I'm excited, and I think that some of you will really enjoy the spaciousness that option allows.
For now, though, have a look at that post above, and keep playing with MyGaia, and let us know what you think about both.
Big hugs, as always...

Weather widget now does international weather too - just click the little cog icon and follow the steps…
…Love it…thanx All…
I try to say Rabbit Rabbit but most of the time I wake up to the dog asking me to take her out and it ends up my first words are “Just a minute. Let me get my boots. I'm coming”. I missed it again today. Oh well, heres to next month!
Hi Siona! I love having that golden dandelion option on my homepage but is it possible somehow to add it to my profile page too? I've never heard of Rabbit Rabbit but it sounds like a good tradition to start at age 40! Would the people who subscribed to the ad free page still be able to chat with their non ad free page friends?
Smiles and Hugs!

Siona, I’ve been saying “rabbit rabbit” for as long as I can remember, too! And it is supposed to bring good luck for the entire month. According to Wikipedia: “The exact origin of the superstition is certainly unknown, though it has appeared in print at least as early as 1420 in England, where it is most commonly said to have originated, though some reports place its origins even earlier, into the 1200s. Today it has spread to most of the English-speaking countries of the world, although like all folklore, determining its exact area of distribution is difficult. This superstition is related to the broader belief in the rabbit or hare being a “lucky†animal, as exhibited in the practice of carrying a rabbit’s foot for luck. Some have also believed it is representing a jumping into the future and moving ahead with life and happiness.”
Good to hear about the “vision of MyGaia” :) I think having a web portal such as this will really help the Gaia Community catch on. I'm surprised none of the other social networks thought of it? Good luck!
CMG: It's cold here again. I think I'm going to set my location to the Bahamas.. :)
Thank you, Will!
Lion: Your response made me laugh; when I lived with my whole family I'd ordinarily end up mumbling something to my stepsister in the mornings, and then biting my lips and promising the next month I wouldn't forget. I'll send you a note on the 29th!
Amber: The ad-free version is just the same as the ad-supported site, so yes, all the interactivity and the rest will be identical. As I wrote, I have this 'Plus' feature enabled and I imagine you don't notice anything different about my profile or ability to post. :) We don't have any plans now to give profile pages the same 'themeability' as the myGaia ones, but perhaps it's something else that could be an additional feature. (And it's never too late for new rituals! Rabbit rabbit. :)
Kira: I love this: “Some have also believed it is representing a jumping into the future and moving ahead with life and happiness.” Here's to open-hearted and fearless leaps into the future… and a big thank you for finding that.
Phil: Good question… :) Thank you!
Siona, I would love that if you could, maybe then it would be fresh in my memory or I could leave myself a little reminder. Somehow, I don't care how but somehow I'll get it next month. That's a lovely name by the way, very unique, is it a throw back to the Siona peoples of the Ecuadorian Amazon?
Shalom, Salaam may your path be well lit.

I actually say “Happy Bunny day!” in the first day of the month.. The legend actually says that if it is the first thing you say when you wake up on the first day of the month, you get good luck for the rest of that month. I actually said it last year instead of “Happy New Years,” and I think that I had an awesome year, if not also the whole month of January. I know that it's a bit silly, but I can't help to say it during all the 1sts. Thanks for the update! I appreciate it. :)
