Our First Live Community-wide Event!

Oh, gosh. We've got big news. If you're subscribed to our newsletters you've likely already heard, but if not, go check this out:
Next Tuesday, Kathlyn and Gay Hendricks are going to be joining us on a live teleseminar for anyone and everyone in the community. I'm a little embarrassingly excited about this: not only are Gay and Katlhyn amazing people in their own right, with plenty of wisdom and heart to share, but this is going to mark a big date in the history of Gaia. It's the first live, site-wide event we've done.
Wow, right? Imagine all of us gathered around one table, sharing the same experience. I think—or wait...I know—it'll be wonderful.
I do hope everyone can make it. We've scheduled the event in the evening (6 pm PST and 9 pm ET, if you're in North America), and if you go register on the page above, we'll send you instructions on how to call in. We plan on archiving the call so you can listen later, too, but I'm sure it'll be more fun to be there in person.
Anyway. Please go have a look at the page linked above, and let us know you'll be there. (Even if you can't make it, you can still check out the page. There's a little recording of my voice—eep—with a few more words of invitation. You might get a kick out of that. ;)

In other news, you might have noticed a few rich media ads sneaking in up top. We're trying to keep things subtle and appropriate, and we're being careful both about the tone of the advertisements (they should fit with the inspirational nature of the site) and the products themselves.
I'd also like to put in a little word for a great resource that you might not yet have discovered. There's a beautiful community-grown Group that I've been completely blown away by over these past few months. When you're done reading this (and signing up for the phone call next week :) go swing by the Gaia Networking Group. It's an amazing place with plenty of tips and ideas and warm thoughts about how to get the most out of your time here... and, as importantly, how to help others get the most of their time here.
Finally, you'll might have noticed a few changes to your profile. Now, when you're logged in, you should see little icons on the page. Clicking them allows you to edit your profile on the page, rather than visiting your settings page. It'll make it simpler to keep updating your description and introduction of your always-changing self. :)

Voice! How fascinating it is that we do so well without it, learning, knowing, understanding, being together; and yet, what a thrill it is to add that one more part of what makes us who we are. It reminded me a little of when we got our first color television - the amazement of seeing something that we had never known we missed. Siona, your voice is lovely. I can hear the warmth and excitement that I am used to seeing/feeling in your written voice.
I won't be home until about 15 minutes after it starts….can I still dial in?

Dryad: I love your analogy. It's exactly that, hm? It's so sweet to me when the people I've met here 'come alive' in some way… a little like a favorite character from a book developing a new dimension and steppng into your life. And thank you so much for your own kind words. I'm glad my enthusiasm came through. :)

I won't be able to attend, but I am wondering if this could be posted on the site as a podcast?
Wolfspirit, my understanding is that it WILL be available somewhere onsite here as a podcast, perhaps only for those who registered for the event, not sure about that last part….
Good thing, because in my enthusiasm (and admiration for the Hendricks's) I registered and then discovered I am facilitator and host of a meeting that evening !!
Siona, thank you from the bottom of my heart for mentioning a pod/Group close to my heart, Gaia Networking – Enhance Your Community Experience.
The way I describe it is one of the whole-community service pods, and it fulfills a unique function within that genre: a guide to the CULTURE of the community – discussions and insights about HOW we do what we do here, and the best ways to go about using the various features to have a wonderful and satisfying community experience !! Both Oldies and Newbies can find out how others view and improve their experiences here. It's more a sharing of experiences and ways of approaching things than a technical How To, that's the How Tos and FAQs pod !!
Your mention has brought us to the attention of a lot of community folk who are joining, and thus enriching our whole community-experience. So, thanks again, Siona !!!

I'm so very excited, but I feel a little embarrassed…what time will that be in the US Central time zone? I've never been very good with deciphering that! *blush*
i was so excited about this conference but i can t get a stable connection to hear it. i am very dissapointed. was this a all encasing problem, did everyone but me hear it? what happend?
i couldnt get a stable connection either, however, i did arrive late… a little pout from me too!

Oh, everyone. I'm so sorry! Our phone line is completely full and the telegathering service we used developed technical issues shortly after we started. We'll be posting the recording online shortly, but my deepest apologies to those of you who made the time and who weren't able to get on the line. Ai. Who knew this would be so overwhelmingly well-attended?

Do you know what a wonder the group of you are? This community, I think, is the best cure for worry there is.
I'll post this elsewhere, but just to continue this thread… If you haven't yet visited the related Group, I'd invite you come check in! We've posted the TeleSeminar there, and there are already some rich conversational threads that have started as a result. (I also updated at my own blog but that's more a too-personal glimpse into my own little skull at what the whole project was like. You'll probably get more out of the Group. :)
