Could we win Co-Op America's People's Choice Award?

Guess what?
We just learned that Gaiam (including us!) is eligible for Co-Op America's Upcoming People's Choice Awards. I know it's a bit of coattail-riding on our behalf, as Gaiam's the one that did the hard work in growing a truly green and socially-responsible business, but today I consider us part-and-parcel of the company as a whole, and winning would be a lovely feather in our collective cap. People's Choice! How much more "community" can you get? :)
It might be obvious, but for me the eligibility alone is a big deal, in part because Co-Op America is one of those non-profits that I deeply respect. They serve a wonderful function in a world where 'greenwashing' is becoming more and more common: their screening criteria are stringent and they're serious about what they do. Businesses listed in their Green Pages must demonstrate that they:
- Actively use their businesses as tools for positive social change;
- Run "values-driven" enterprises that operate according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability;
- Are socially and environmentally responsible in the way they source, manufacture, and market their products and run their offices and factories; and
- Are committed to developing and employing extraordinary practices that benefit workers, customers, communities, and the environment.
Not bad.
Obviously, I'm proud to be part of a company that's shown all this (especially one that's grown from a baby business into a big one without losing its soul; I can't think of many companies that have gone public and made themselves available for others to invest in while still remaining true to a triple bottom line), and proud, too, to be sharing the news with you. And, of course, I'd be even more giddy if it we get enough nominations to be listed in the run-offs in September.

Please please please consider submitting a nomination (I'll extend my undying gratitude in response). Again, it'd be wonderful if we could add that little award to our About page, and such a nice reminder about the role we place within an organization that believes in walking its talk.

Well of course I did it and I LOVED doing it.
But we need many more nominations, so would it be a good idea to approach some of the pod cultivators and ask them to place in the most active Pods?

I just submitted a nomination for Gaia, as well. And told them how wonderful this site is! My daughter and I tended the Green Festival in Washington DC last fall and loved it. We got connected w Co-op America there. Good to see the work they're doing in the world, and it's good that they'll know all about us now.

He I put a link to this site, along with a nice inspiring song, in my blog to inspire more people to support the Gaia nomination. May be that's a good idea for more people to follow up and spread the word?!
I am new here and fell in love with the site, i also casted my vote for gaia and I hope more people would too. You might have more luck contacting the members of the most populated groups. That way more people are looking at them daily.

It's so funny; reading all this makes me realize that I don't really care if we don't make it into the final running, because your nominations mean more to me than all the Co-Op America awards in the world. :) I just wish I had a better way to put all that gratitude into words.
I have to second Siona. I am so awed by the heart behind each vote and each response here. It warms my soul to think of how many beautiful people create this community and how valuable we are to each other. Thank you all so much…

I am so intrigued by Gaiam's approach to making the world a greener place that I made it my default homepage. The wealth of information available on green communities and industries is astounding.
I placed my nomination for Gaiam today, and encourage us all to do so between today and September 10th. I just love the spirit of Gaia because as a collective we are in it to win it, because we only have one world
