Jessica here.
Last Saturday was Global Gaia Gathering Day. Connections were made and friendships blossomed. Gaia members met face-to-face, sharing inspiration, swapping their favorite books, listening to live music, breaking bread and cuddling with snakes. Yipes!
People were celebrating in Chicago, Seattle, Southern California, Boulder and more. I was in Hungtington Beach and had the honor of connecting with such beautiful people. We shared delicious food, inspirational quotes and talked about our experience of Gaia and community as well as the difference it had made in our lives. I am truly excited about building the friendships that began and were nourished on Saturday. There are Gatherings planned throughout August (our Gathering Month) and you still have time to plan yours! Let us know if you need any help :)

Our organizers did an amazing job, so I want to send a big thank you to everyone who helped plan as well as all of those who participated. Coming together can nourish our souls. Here are some words of wisdom and love from a few who reached out and planned Gatherings of their own:
The difference between meeting someone in person versus online is profound. As those of you who have experienced this for yourselves know, an online relationship, while fulfilling in many ways, isn't the same as meeting face to face, giving and receiving those special hugs that Gaians seem to be famous for, and sharing the life-changing conversations that somehow are much more meaningful in person. Online communication is a boon and to be encouraged, but face to face encounters come closer to the sacred sharing of soul space via shared experience and the process of being together and knowing the other person more intimately. There is no substitute for this.

I believe that, by connecting with the loving energy of other Gaians, I traveled deep into the heart of the Gaian organism, of that collective consciousness of caring and being. And as a result of that, I feel like I’m more of myself, but changed on a core level in some way. I was healed while I was healing and that chain, already in existence via online, become more real and more powerful in person….

Hi, everyone. Just want to say that I was thrilled to see an excerpt from one of my GG blogs on this page; what an honor! I also want to say that I'm happy to have met so many Gaians over the past 7 months on this site (I joined back in January). Meeting up with about 15 of our members in Florence, Oregon, and in California was one of the best experiences of my life. It's truly wonderful to be here, and I look forward to meeting more and more Gaians in the future!
Sharing truly promotes growth! I love the visuals! The Love in this place should be outlawed!!! (LOL).
On August 9th I knew many miraculous things would happen to many people all over the world! But I was not prepared for the miraculous gift I would receive! Siona and anyone who is a student of synchronicity may be able to follow a bit of what I would like to communicate, and may be able to shed some light on my personal experience.
Since July 26th, I have been seriously distracted. For many years; I, like many of you, have been on a path to find answers to questions like; why am I here? How can I truly be happy? What is my purpose? Etc: When you experience moments when there is no “resistance” in your path. There is no stopping of a task, or thought(s), but a feeling of sailing, a feeling of peace. I often just call it “Flow”, the name of a book I read many years ago. My first experience was driving about 10 miles from work to home. I traveled a few back roads then on a highway and then inner-city. Every light was green! No train was passing that day. No school buses. I never stopped until I reached home. At first I didn't remember how I got home. Then I just remember being so relaxed, and in thought, but I could not remember what I was thinking about. Then the FEAR returned and I thought how lucky I was that I wasn't killed. I wasn't paying attention!
To make this long and unexplainable story short, I was unaware that Flow or Synchronicity can occur in a much more complex way, or on a larger scale. Siona if you check your Grape Vine, I remember asking you (the Synchronicity Coordinator), to help me achieve that “flow” feeling again, or something like that. To try to explain how magnanimous it was would only cause frustration to the reader. I have thought for a few days of how to convey what has and is happening. I can't, it is too new and ongoing. I am inspired, I am confident, I am not fearful; I can understand things that I couldn't before July 26th 2008, and if anyone has read my “Val is”, part of my profile you have noticed that I listed that, in short, I am all things that I need to be. I feel confident in that statement!
I was fired from my job on July 25th. I became a member of GAIA on June 6th! After the termination I returned home fired-up. I wanted to prove the accuser to be a liar; I had a lot of data and support. I started writing, and three days later, not only did I write many pages for a grievance. I also, wrote about ideas for my own business, I also wrote insights and “words-of-wisdom” (at least my wisdom- Smile). I am still writing and it doesn't matter that I was fired and it's not important for me to “prove-injustice” or embarrass someone. However, a connection for more professional support was established, and I will be Divinely led in the path that is appropriate but I do not feel the need to “prove” anything.
I hate long posts: Finally, I had plans for August 9th; I wanted to be with people. I really wanted to laugh, share, and continue to grow with those that know the importance of spirituality! Circumstances occurred that prevented me from traveling, but Divine Intervention stepped in and “introduced” me to the place within that knows-all. I don't mean that I got saved or baptized. I had many revelations, insights, realizations. I have had moments like that in the past when I thought it all finally came together, but after a short period of time, the “fears” returned. This time (sounds-de-ja-vous), I know the difference, and am here to confirm that all of the moments you have had when you thought you got it together, but wander why you are still struggling or not happy or backsliding (for lack of a better word)? It all has a purpose! It counts! It's good! Just keep paying ATTENTION and reminding your-self to have positive Intentions. By the way, I'm still working hard at all of it! The most astounding thing is; what I thought was great is far greater!
I am not a special person or intelligent or whatever…I am saying that I have many flaws and many would consider me a really big “sinner”. Was it Robert Thurman who said that SIN is ”Self Inflicted Nonsense”? The one thing I do work on consistently is: Increase Level of Faith, Try to keep my Intentions Positive, Respect for All People, Try not to Judge or be Vengeful. But the trickiest of all are the “Shadows”. See Thurman's book or tape. Also, see Carl Jung (also my mentor). The bottom line is: it is necessary to accept that dark side of your-self.

As always, there is humor in everything.But first, please be a witness to the first “Valism”; While re-reading this post to find other typos before excepting that it's post-ready. I saw another GEM, or “Valism”: “Paying Attention during a flow experience may decrease the number of years you search for answers”. Wow, I'm going to print and patent that.

On August 30th, I will be 50 (yes it is true that it is the new 40! But the new 50 offers more). The white hair around my medium brown face, which recedes into gray, and almost no dark brown/black strands visible (almost). An amount of gray you don't usually see at 40, but it's my new 40 (smile). I can't be certain, but I think I am free from dying the hair (once again)…. . Every day of your life counts! The good and bad experiences have a positive purpose. Work is necessary. Wandering in a desert for 40 years is real! I survived!
